Latest Charts

After a large amount of magic jiggery pokery, and running across a brick wall of what excel can actually chart.

Going from a simple chart looking like this:

which doesn't give a clue as to the frequency of each event, to something like these two:

took three magic hours.

I had to go from a simple list of three items (a,b,c) to go to an (n by n) block in excel which could then be plotted as a bunch of 3d shapes/

Well, at least I know what to do, so it will be easier for the next couple of charts :-)

Latest Books

At the moment, I'm reading through:
  • Rumo by Walter Moers
  • The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson (this is for the Wednesday Book Club at Arlington's). Not that I needed an excuse... I have a copy of the book about 20 years old, with a blue hand and a white mouse on the cover.
Just finished:
  • Heartless part of the Parasol Protectorate saga by Gail Carriger.
  • Snuff by Sir TP

Latest News - Hot off the Press

I've been number crunching user usage patterns from the Squidz trial. Once a webpage has been annotated there is a visible difference between the pattern of access compared to non-annotated pages.

Now just need to describe it better. Simon and Ben feel I need to break down the accesses to annotated into before aand after patterns. So, that is the next peice of numerical analysis.

Oh, and Spike has been found! Did you enter Putterfingers' competition?
